The announcer has a very important job in professional wrestling. A good announcer (Jim Ross) can transform a * star match into a *** star match. And on the same note a poor announcer can turn a great match into a bad one (Mike Adamle).
Whether it is announcing during house shows or on television, the commentary you hear is more important than most people think. Have you ever been somewhere that the speaker is just boring and the event never seems to end??? Now you know what we are talking about.

We use the term "announcer" to cover: ring announcers, play-by-play, color, and interviewer. Most promotions have you work up the ranks from a ring announcer to the anchor of a television show.

A college degree in communications, radio and television experience, and being a long-time wrestling fan will benefit you in your quest … however, training in the ring is vital. How can you call a match or interview a wrestler if you have never "been there". We give the announcer trainee and opportunity to apply and receive the various moves and counters. This will give them a better understanding of "what it does" and the skills involved.
